Social mobility and electoral behaviour : taxonomy of relation models
pp. 171-183
This article analyses the relationship between mobility and electoral behaviour. A complete taxonomy of the types of conformist and hyperconformist behaviour is built up based on the examination of this relationship. It is also established that the socialization-resocialization theory can apply to both the political reproduction model and to other models which can be qualified as cumulative, corresponding to precise historical cases. It is also shown that the analysis of empirical data collected here and there, even if they partly reply to a number of hypotheses, cannot be used to test the theories in a strict manner, on one hand due to the lack of specificity and on the other hand due to the semantic and syntactic vagueness of these theories.
