The efficiency of teaching

The notion of efficiency in teaching is of common usage in school sociology and leads to various investigations, some favouring the study of the structural or organizational determining factors of efficiency, and some the actors’ behaviour, in particular that of teachers. Based on an analysis of three recent works which combine in an original way these two perspectives, the author has tried to present the main results of research relative to efficiency in teaching.
